‘Dee’s Eat Well, Be Happy’ Healthy Irish-made Wholefood Burgers (As seen on Dragons’ Den): Now Available at SuperValu & Centra
Health-conscious consumers will be delighted to learn that Dee’s Wholefood Burgers will soon be available at select SuperValu and Centra outlets across Ireland.
From Sunday, 13th June, Dee’s organic Omega Burger and Dee’s organic Spicy Bean Burger will be stocked in the chilled section of many of the Musgrave-owned supermarkets and convenience stores.
The announcement comes as excellent news for vegetarians, vegans, coeliacs and anyone keen to follow a healthy balanced diet. The award-winning range is considered unique because Dee’s products are made from natural, non-processed ingredients such as protein rich seeds, wholegrains and vegetables – the type of simple healthy ingredients that you would find in your own kitchen. Dee’s burgers are not just meat-free, but also wheat-free, gluten-free and made without using dairy ingredients, soy or eggs. And, as the range has no added salt or sugar, the burgers are proving extremely popular with parents looking for meal options for their children that don’t have added salt or added sugar.
Widely-recognised as being one of the most successful business ideas showcased on last season’s Dragons’ Den, Dee’s Eat Well, Be Happy range has been steadily growing in popularity among a broad customer base.
“It’s been an extremely busy but exciting few months since I appeared on Dragons’ Den. It’s certainly opened up new opportunities for my business. The show really got people taking about the product range and it’s done wonders for brand recognition”, Deirdre Collins explains.
“Before the show, I’d been working hard to build up my business. I established the company in 2007. I wanted to create food that was convenient and easy to prepare but that also had a high nutritional health value. I felt that there would be a market for a new wholefood brand for those who wanted to eat healthily, but who might not have time to prepare meals from scratch. After further market research, I began to develop my own product range and Dee’s Eat Well, Be Happy was launched. The reaction from the Dragons last March was phenomenal! I received offers from four of the five Dragons and I ended up doing a deal with Niall O'Farrell”.
Since appearing on the RTE programme, Deirdre has hired two new staff and increased the number of stockists she supplies. This week’s announcement that SuperValu and Centra are to join the growing list of Dee’s stockists is more good news for fans of the wholefood burger range.
The move follows last year’s agreement with Dunnes Stores and a recent deal with Superquinn, which have seen Dee’s products become a familiar sight in supermarket multiples’ chilled grocery departments throughout Ireland.
With the popularity of Dee’s burgers continuing to grow, the UCC Food Science and Nutrition graduate is preparing for a hectic summer. Deirdre says she’s not about to rest on her laurels:
“I’ve had a really successful year so far but that doesn’t mean I’ll be taking it easy over the summer months! We’ve lots of promotional events planned. We’ll be promoting Dee’s Eat Well, Be Happy at the Tullamore Show in August. As autumn approaches we’ll also be getting ready for the Ploughing Championships which take place in Athy, Co. Kildare in September. And, the brand has recently been given official approval from the Coeliac Society of Ireland – it’s definitely ‘all go’ at the moment. It’s hard work but I’m passionate about my business so I enjoy being busy!”
Look out for Dee’s Omega Burger and Dee’s Spicy Bean Burger in the chilled section at SuperValu, Centra, Dunnes Stores, Superquinn and select health food shops and gourmet food halls throughout Ireland.
From Sunday 16th June, the range will be available in the following stores (NB: new SuperValu and Centra stockists throughout the country are being added to the list on a weekly basis):
